Celebrating the Mystical Experince

The spiritual poetry expressed in Feed My Lambs Mystical Poetry of Earth and Fire celebrates the mystical experience and non duality. A warm welcome to all spiritual seekers and poetry lovers. I hope potential readers and those interested in the spiritual mystical path, may find solace with the poetry in this book and the feeling expressed on this page. The poems in this book reflect a complete collection by the author spanning a long time period and reflect a wide range of subjects and style.

Since publication the book has sold Internationally in England, France, Netherlands, Canada and has reached a number of kindred souls. It is not just another poetry book, but provides spiritual principles and a meditative contemplations of the reality of the Presence of God.

A sample poem, Beyond Form is posted below and is the first poem in the book.
The author has received much feedback on this poem as it seems to have moved many.

The inspirational, spiritual, mystical, modern poetry and meditations and for those inclined towards the Mystical Path, may serve as songs of healing and joy. Appealing to lovers of poetry with a wide range of themes from the mystical to the sensual, from the earthy to the inspirational, this work is really two books in one.

From the Introduction, "The poems in the first part of this work, called Feed My Lambs, were given to me in moments of uplift, more times than not, on silent retreats. After a long period in which nothing was written, I had a wonderful experience at a monastery in Northern Virginia, in which the first of these poems, Assumption to Truth emerged. It took place in total silence and in a communal setting where the consciousness of the group seemed to find voice therein. These took on their own life force and could be more technically called poetic meditations and reflect spiritual principles that have come to me in my journey on the Path."

Please continue to scroll down to the end of the page to view the art work included in the book, that is taken from paintings of Paula Barbarotto and  can be viewed in color.

Beyond Form First Poem In Book

Before the beginning of time,
I AM.
Before the manifestation of form,
I AM.
Before the differentiation of opposites,
I AM.
Before the incarnation on this physical plane,
I AM.

I know neither death nor life,
nor form nor matter -
I AM – not the body.
I AM – not the mind.
I AM – not the emotions.

I AM in the Stillness –
in the still small voice you will find Me.
I AM in the calm between the storm,
I AM that which is beneath the ground of being.
I AM that which is beyond the sight of mortals -
Beyond the physical sense of body that
fades and dies.
I AM not in the corpse that lies in the coffin.

I AM beyond the beauty of mountain heights.
I AM beyond the beauty of poppy fields
blooming red against the cloudless blue sky.
I AM beyond the ocean waves and tides,
Beyond the ethereal foam the waves wash ashore.
Beyond the mountain’s fog -
Beyond the mingling of corporeal bodies
in the temporary ecstasy of physicality.

I AM beyond the creations of mind –
Beyond thoughts -
Beyond fear, anticipation, worry-
Beyond sadness, gloom, despair.

I AM that which fills the void
of all space –
I AM in between the molecules of matter.
I AM beyond the spectrum of
observable colors.

I AM closer to you than breathing,
I AM closer to you than the
blood coursing through your veins –
closer than the beating of your heart.
I AM in the quiet stillness of the
breath – halted;
in this moment-less Peace – I AM.

Hold not yourself in condemnation or criticism –
for these are no things.
Hold no being in the illusion of sin or evil,
for they are without substance or reality.

Forgive 70 x 70 and then more,
in each new breath – Forgive.
Forgive yourself –
Forgive your parents –
Forgive your children –
Forgive your brothers and sisters –
Forgive your friends –
Forgive your enemies.
Forgive the living and the dead-
Forgive those who pass from sight –
for they will know and receive this loving
absolution –
and they will be free.

Forgive yourself for feeling that
you have to forgive –
for you are as I created you –
My loving Son
in whom I AM well pleased.

You are formless, limitless –
boundless Light,
dancing to the timelessness of joy -
a luminescent cloud of infinite lightness,
floating on the transparency of
eternal bliss.

Testimonial and Review

"Carl's inspired, mystical poetry takes the reader beyond humaneness to the deepest Truths of the soul in the remembrance of Oneness. These illumined words create images that literally dance off the page as one opens to childlike innocence, freedom and liberation. Themes of surrender, mystery, emptiness, formlessness, forgiveness, vision, atonement and others are lovingly and artfully addressed leading the reader from knowing spiritual truths intellectually to the aliveness of embodiment. Carl's words are pointers to deep inner silence, the ground of being, beyond all words, beliefs, concepts and thoughts of separation. Carl's poetry makes my soul sing and cry with joy in the recognition of coming Home to Truth."

Artwork in Book

Unfortunately due to printing costs the beautiful images that were used in this book are in black and white. I have included on this page three of the actual color paintings that appear in my book by the artist Paula Barbarotto, as well as the mystical photo of The Bird in Flight by James Barbarotto which can be seen at the top of this post and which is the first image of the book. I have included  a link to Paula's web site so anyone interested in her paintings can click the image to see what other work she has done and is available for sale. Poetry and art are sister forms of expression of the Beauty of the One and her nature scenes evoke the feeling of the Divine as well.

The painting on the upper right side, The Tunnel is also included in the book before the poem The Tunnel which was the very first poem written at the age of 16 and which reflected a certain spiritual theme of my life, as I look back.

Spirituality increases one's sensitivity to beauty, as it can be seen in nature and art, or heard in the sounds of nature or music. For the mystic all life forms express the Divinity as Saint Francis of Assisi exemplifies with an almost magical reverence for all God's creatures and the response he elicits from their innocence. In my poetry I celebrate that even the rocks and crystals and so called inanimate forms sing the praises of the Creator with joy. Scroll down to end of page to see some of these paintings, the first two are used in the book.
